A.: No!. This product is not recommended for tops of counters, tables or desks; bathtubs or bath surrounds, sinks, shower stalls; floors or any surface subjected to constant moisture or dampness.

Q.: Can I have Cabinet Rescue® tinted to a custom color?

A.: Yes, up to 1.25 fluid ounces of universal colorants for "latex paints" can be added to a full quart to obtain any number of pastel and upper mid-tone shades. Many homeowners select white (as supplied) or "almond" to match existing appliances.

Q.: How much paint will I require?

A.: One quart of Cabinet Rescue® is usually enough for two coats of paint on the facings of 10 linear feet of upper and lower cabinetry (50 sq.ft.). Most kitchens are 10 by 10 linear feet and require two quarts of paint. It is always a good idea to blend a new quart with the remaining paint of the open can to assure uniform color.

Q.: Do I have to apply a primer to solid wood cabinets?

A.: A primer is required when painting over existing varnishes, lacquers, shellacs, polyurethanes and some aged enamels (see "painting wood cabinets" in kitchen project page). An oil based stain blocking primer is preferred. Do not use a shellac based primer.

Q.: Can I apply a clear polyurethane finish on top of Cabinet Rescue®?

A.: Yes, after Cabinet Rescue® has thoroughly dried, however, a gloss top coat will nullify the "factory-like" finish designed into Cabinet Rescue® without adding any substantial durability or scrubbability to the surface.

When applying a clear on top of a white or nearly white finish, the end product my appear aged or yellowed. Cabinet Rescue® has been formulated to provide the most attractive as well as durable finish.

Q.: Can I faux finish my cabinets with Cabinet Rescue®?

A.: Many faux techniques can be achieved by using Cabinet Rescue® itself as the faux medium. This product remains "wet" long enough to manipulate in sponging, rag rolling, smudging (with plastic bags or films), stippling, dry brushing and splattering.

A protective glaze is not needed when using Cabinet Rescue® to faux finish a project.

Q.: Where else can I use Cabinet Rescue®?

A.: The tough durable finish of Cabinet Rescue® make it a good choice for interior doors and trim.
